Anthropomorphic Collective Nouns ...

The English language has some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective nouns for the various groups of animals.

We are all familiar with a Herd of cows, a Flock of chickens, a School of fish and a Gaggle of geese.

However, less widely known is a Pride of lions, a Murder of crows (as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens), an Exaltation of doves and, presumably because they look so wise, a Parliament of owls.

Now consider a group of Baboons. They are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all primates.  And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?

Believe it or not ....... a Congress!

Most "human rights activists" have chosen to ignore the protests in
Israel.

One would think that they'd see the opportunities for the Palestinians
that these protests are bringing and at least support them for that
reason.

Or, is the point to criticize Israel, and they've never really cared
about the Palestinians at all?

Truth versus MSNBC (about Ron Paul)
Robert Wenzel

Last night after the Republican presidential debate, MSNBC conducted a poll online to see who viewers thought won the debate. It was a blow away victory for Ron Paul, below is a bar chart showing the Ron Paul win and also the bar chart that was run by MSNBC. Notice the incorrect proportions in the MSNBC chart showing Rick Perry and Mitt Romney much closer to Ron Paul, in votes, than they actually were. By the way the MSNBC chart was even more distorted early on. Bob Murphy caught a screenshot of the Big Lie.

(Thanks 2 John T Foster for the correctly proportioned chart.)

Friend --

I'm about to head to the Capitol to ask Congress to act on my plan to put Americans back to work.

Before I do, I wanted to write you directly to remind you that the fight to create jobs -- and provide the kind of economic security for middle-class families that's been slipping away over the last decade -- won't begin or end with the speech I give tonight.

What happens will be up to you. In the coming days and weeks, it will be up to you to pressure Congress to act -- or hold them accountable if they do not.

If you're with me, let me know. And the campaign will make sure you are looped into our efforts to support this plan.

Talk to you soon,

Barack

Happy Birthday Monica Lewinsky!

Unbelievably, Monica Lewinsky turns 50 this week.

In her honor we re-tell one of the best Clinton jokes:

Former President Bill Clinton had yet anther heart attack, collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

When he came to and was asked by the doctors how he felt he said:

"It's awful Doc.  It feels like I have two interns sitting on my chest."

Cyberhijackers Pose Threat to Planes, Trains and Automobiles Sep 7, 2011 | 6:10 PM ET | By John R. Quain, SecurityNewsDaily Contributor

http://www.securitynewsdaily.com/911-cyberhijacking-planes-trains-automobiles-1129/

The horrific Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks involved weaponized airliners that were hijacked using brutal, low-tech tactics. But the rapid advances in technology of the last 10 years may mean that tomorrow's threats to planes, trains and automobiles could come not from armed terrorists, but from stealthy hackers.

The connection between terrorist organizations and cybercriminals exists, say experts, not only in online underground marketplaces where hacking tools are sold, but also in areas of recruitment and training.

Some unfriendly countries are working on so-called cyberwarfare programs, and there are also "al-Qaida cells that are acting as training centers for hackers," said Alan Paller, director of research at the SANS Institute, an information-security training firm based in Bethesda, Md.

Those attackers will have more targets than ever, security firm McAfee noted in a report released last week [http://www.mcafee.com/us/resources/reports/rp-caution-malware-ahead.pdf ]. The report cited the mobile-phone maker Ericsson's estimate that by 2020, there will be roughly 50 billion devices connected to the Internet, including airport kiosks, industrial control systems and remote network-monitoring devices.

The perceived threat to these and other systems is rising.

Mounting evidence

Last week, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a security bulletin from the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center warning the security community about new tools and new recruitment techniques being used by various hacker groups.

The report refers to such organizations as soliciting help from disaffected employees, as well as using more nefarious methods, including forcing people to cooperate with hackers using "unwilling coercion through embarrassment or blackmail."

While the possibility of actually incapacitating an individual plane and causing it to crash via computer remains remote, say experts, hackers can disrupt flights and create potentially life-threatening situations.

In 2004, malware known as the Sasser worm disrupted flights when it infected systems that Delta Air Lines relied upon. Since then, the tools for creating such havoc have become more sophisticated — and more accessible.

The DHS warning included references to new tools being used by politically motivated "hacktivist" groups such as Anonymous. Powerful administrative tools, such as the "Low Orbit Ion Cannon," have been repurposed to bring down systems using distributed denial-of-service attacks. While such attacks are rudimentary, they could cause serious problems if directed at critical transportation systems.

Gaping vulnerabilities

Such networks remain frighteningly vulnerable, say law enforcement watchers. As one example, a congressional report on cyberterrorism cited the 2002 case in which a major weakness in the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) was discovered that could have been exploited to bring down "major portions of the Internet."

The vulnerability was kept a secret while security firms worked to protect telecommunications equipment around the world. According to FBI reports at the time, if the systems had not been patched, they could have been used to interrupt control information exchanged between ground and aircraft flight control systems.

Similar outages in telecommunications systems and embedded systems could be used to disrupt train and track switching information.

"For example, some rail systems are based on SCADA [supervisory control and data acquisition] control systems," said Tim Armstrong, a malware researcher at Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab. "These are similar to the types of control systems that were compromised in the Stuxnet attacks in 2010."

But the newest and most unpredictable weaknesses today appear to be in the connected systems embedded in late-model cars.

Several vulnerabilities in remote start, locking, tracking and other car systems have already been demonstrated. Computer security researchers at iSec Partners, for example, have shown how they can unlock a car and turn on its engine using a laptop computer.

The researchers managed this hack with a few hours' work tapping into the car's wireless connections. Another security expert has demonstrated how to tap into a police car's camera and video recorder.

Such attacks already have a name: war texting. Mobile car apps that use a driver's smartphone are potential targets in many of these cases as well, according to McAfee's report, "Caution: Malware Ahead."

Analysts at the firm stress that while no such cases have yet occurred, critical car systems could be vulnerable. One example: remote vehicle immobilization and slow-down systems, such as those used in GM's OnStar, could be hacked. Though they were intended as theft deterrents, if control of these systems fell into the wrong hands, it could lead to disastrous results.

15 year old punk just got a lesson on the second amendment.

Oops, good guy had one too.

Gotta love that second amendment.

Update

: Here is a more recent video that lays out the shooting incident in northern Philadelphia. It confirms all initial reporting in the incident from yesterday, and gives some additional details. Eells is currently in the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery

A Philadelphia college student put his firearm carry permit to good use Monday, as he shot it out with a would-be robber, hitting him twice

watch?v=YAw4fPIRGr8

Robert Eells, 21-year-old Temple University student, was in front of his off-campus house smoking a cigarette at 1:30Am Monday when a group of teenagers approached him and asked for money. The main suspect- who is 15-years old- allegedly then attempted to rob Eells, who refused the demand for cash.

At that point, police say the suspect started shooting, and hit Eels in the stomach.

But Eels was able to fight back. He drew his own legal pistol and fired, hitting the attacker in the chest and leg.

School officials say Eells is recovering at Temple University Hospital. He had a license to carry the weapon he used and faces no charges in the incident.

The suspect is also in the hospital, and will face aggravated assault and attempted robbery charges. Police are searching for two accomplices.

Gotta love it.   ~ Steve~

I am not forgiving islam

By Ronin, 7 Sep, 2011
As we approach the ten-year anniversary of the 9/11, terror attacks on our homeland, you will notice the supporters of the religion of pedophile worshippers are spending an incredible amount of Bull droppings to distance their cult from the attack it inspired.

Even if you have not noticed the pro islam propaganda in the media, you will get a chance to experience it first hand when the president gives a speech at the Washington National Cathedral. Forgetting that Sunday's 9/11 anniversary memorial ceremony was not opened to Christian evangelicals, somehow the inclusion of a Buddhist nun and an islamic imam went unnoticed by most of what purports to be mainstream media (Fox ran the story).

I have no problem with the Buddhist but a sunni imam speaking at the event is the equivalent of asking a Nazi Party official to speak at a holocaust memorial. Unless the imam is going to kneel and beg forgiveness, his appearance is an insult.

I do not need anyone to remind me that islamic ideology inspired 19 pedophile worshipers to attacks innocent American's just because we value individual freedoms more than the rants of a seventh century pedophile, thief, warlord, rapist and murderer.

I do not need anyone to remind me that islamic ideology has inspired tens of thousands of additional attacks all over the globe since 9/11.

I do not need anyone to remind me that islamic imams, clerics and supporters have praised the 9/11 terrorists as great heroes for the last ten years. Read more of this post

NINA SHEA: White House to aid Islamic states defy free speech

Posted on Sep 7, 2011 | by Nina Shea

WASHINGTON (BP) -- An unprecedented collaboration between the Obama administration and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC, formerly called the Organization of the Islamic Conference) to combat "Islamophobia" may lead to the de-legitimization of freedom of expression as a human right.

The administration is taking the lead in an international effort to "implement" a U.N. resolution against religious "stereotyping," specifically as applied to Islam.

To be sure, the administration argues that the effort should not result in free-speech curbs. However, its partners in the collaboration, the 56 member states of the OIC, have no such qualms.

Many OIC states police private speech through Islamic blasphemy laws that the Saudi-based OIC has long worked to see applied universally. Under Muslim pressure, Western Europe now has laws against religious hate speech that serve as proxies for Islamic blasphemy codes.

Last March, U.S. diplomats maneuvered the adoption of Resolution 16/18 within the U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC). Non-binding, this resolution expresses, among other things, concern about religious "stereotyping" and "negative profiling" but does not limit free speech. It was intended to -- and did -- replace the OIC's decidedly dangerous resolution against "defamation of religions," which protected religious institutions instead of individual freedoms.

But thanks to a puzzling U.S. diplomatic initiative that was unveiled in July, Resolution 16/18 is poised to become a springboard for a greatly reinvigorated international effort to criminalize speech against Islam, the very thing it was designed to quash.

Citing a need to "move to implementation" of Resolution 16/18, the Obama administration has inexplicably decided to launch a major international effort against Islamophobia in partnership with the OIC. This is being voluntarily assumed at American expense, outside the U.N. framework, and is not required by the resolution itself.

On July 15, a few days after the Norway massacre, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton co-chaired an OIC session in Istanbul on religious intolerance. It was there that she announced the initiative, inviting the OIC member-states' foreign ministers and representatives to an inaugural meeting of the effort to be hosted by the U.S. government this fall in Washington. She envisions it as the first in a series of meetings to decide how best to implement Resolution 16/18.

In making the announcement, Clinton was firm in asserting that the U.S. does not want to see speech restrictions: "The resolution calls upon states to 'counter offensive expression through education, interfaith dialogue, and public debate ... but not to criminalize speech unless there is an incitement to imminent violence.'" (This is the First Amendment standard set forth in the 1969 Supreme Court case of Brandenburg v. Ohio.)

With the United States providing this new world stage for presenting grievances of "Islamophobia" against the West, the OIC rallied around the initiative as the propaganda windfall that it is. The OIC promptly reasserted its demands for global blasphemy laws, once again sounding the call of its failed U.N. campaign for international laws against the so-called defamation of Islam. It has made plain its aim to use the upcoming conference to further pressure Western governments to regulate speech on behalf of Islam.

The OIC's understanding of the upcoming meetings, as stated in the Saudi-based International Islamic News Agency, is that they will "aim at developing a legal basis for the U.N. Human Rights Council's resolution which [will] help in enacting domestic laws for the countries involved in the issue, as well as formulating international laws preventing inciting hatred resulting from the continued defamation of religions."

In an August 17 op-ed on the initiative, OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu was enthusiastic. He expressed concern that "anti-Islam and anti-Muslim attitudes and activities, known as Islamophobia, are increasingly finding place in the agenda of ultra-right wing political parties and civil societies in the West in their anti-immigrant and anti-multiculturalism policies," and that "their views are being promoted under the banner of freedom of expression." This parallels the old Soviet-bloc attack on the First Amendment as an official sanctioning of racism.

Citing a familiar litany of examples -- "the publication of offensive cartoons of the Prophet six years ago that sparked outrage across the Muslim world, the publicity around the film 'Fitna' and the more recent Qur'an burnings" -— Ihsanoglu was emphatic that "no one has the right to insult another for their beliefs or to incite hatred and prejudice" and that "freedom of expression has to be exercised with responsibility."

In a separate OIC news report, Ihsanoglu raised the stakes further. He warned against the "institutionalization of the phenomenon of Islamophobia through the involvement of the European extreme right in government institutions and political action."

Ambassador Zamir Akram, Pakistan's permanent representative on behalf of the OIC to the U.N. Human Rights Council, commented regarding the initiative that the OIC would not compromise on "anything against the Quran, anything against the Prophet and anything against the Muslim community in terms of discrimination."

As for reciprocity -- for example, reforming the Saudi national curriculum that continues to teach students to "kill" Jews, "fight" polytheists, view Christians as "enemies" and spread Islam through "jihad" -- there probably won't be any.

This initiative is shaping up to be one-sided. As Akram said, "The Resolution 16/18 was driven more by the kind of discrimination in Europe and the West in general against Muslims." He added: "I don't think any country in the Muslim world is deliberately discriminating against minorities." Ihsanoglu took a similar tack, writing that "the Islamic faith is based on tolerance and acceptance of other religions. It does not condone discrimination of human beings on the basis of caste, creed, color, or faith." (In his op-ed, Ihsanoglu also declared that "the OIC has never sought to limit freedom of expression.")

Having won the latest round in the ideological contest for individual rights and freedoms at the United Nations this past March, the administration is now gratuitously establishing a new "transnational" forum to essentially re-litigate the matter with a body that is openly hostile to such freedoms. This forum's agenda is to be structured so that freedom of expression will be put on trial and inevitably condemned by most forum participants as, itself, a human rights violation. In raising OIC expectations that "anti-Islam and anti-Muslim attitudes" will be dealt with under soon-to-be-drafted "implementation" procedures, the administration is riding a tiger.

In his 2009 Cairo speech, President Obama said, "I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam whenever they appear." There are a number of problems with this statement: One is that it encourages the diplomatic folly that is this conference.

Muslims Against Crusades Celebrating September 11, 2001

Posted: 05 Sep 2011 08:58 PM PDT

Are you familiar with the website Muslims Against Crusades? When you go to their website linked below, don't click through the first screen. Wait it out, even if you can hear your heart thumping. And after you read all of the following, think of how many Muslims living in the West agree with Muslims Against Crusades. How many secret celebrations will be going on in the world's true democracies on 9/11/01?

The Hate That Never Ended
Published September 5, 2011 at Noisy Room and Gulag Bound
by Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

10 years… 10 long years. I don't know about you, but I don't feel as if justice has been served since 9-11. Justice would have been simultaneous hits on Afghanistan and Iran, bringing their leadership to their knees and leaving their countries a pile of rubble. But that's not how it happened. Americans are still fighting and 9-11 was one strike against America in a war that we will win. I still have no doubt of that.

Even today I weep for those friends and family members lost on that horrific day. I was living in Phoenix and saw it all play out in color on TV. I couldn't believe what I was seeing – I still can't. My soul still cries out for those murdered and the monstrous radical ideology that took their lives. For the rest of my days, I will see the images and grief of that day. I can never forget and neither can America.

We lost 2,977 Americans that day; more than we lost at Pearl Harbor. But, unlike Pearl Harbor, there was no defining retribution for these murders. There has been no end to an undeclared war.

The memorials aren't even built yet. And of those that are being built, unbelievably, one has an Islamic Crescent in it's design.

Flt. 93 Memorial

From "911 Flight 93 Memorial: Islamic Crescent of Betrayal," Atlas Shrugs, 8/4/2011
This is the site of the 9/11/2001 murders of Flight 93 at Shanksville, PA
Those responsible for this celebratory Islamist design should be outed by name. – AW

And that is not the only travesty – on this day that is an American day, a day for American grief, the now mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, won't allow clergy or 9-11 first responders to attend the 10th Anniversary of the attacks. Bloomberg should be voted out for this outrageous act – actually, he should be driven from New York in shame. And finally, as a further slap to America's face, he is supporting the blasphemous Ground Zero Mosque and allowing their clergy to attend its christening (I chose that word on purpose folks). It's like honoring our attackers on sacred ground. Bloomberg is an evil man and history will reflect very poorly on him for these acts. He will never be America's mayor. He might be more suited to mayor of Baghdad or a city in Afghanistan. His loyalties do not lie with America evidently and one wonders what he has been promised. But he is not alone…

Muslims Against Crusades

Today, I received a head's up from a friend concerning a site with the name 'Muslims Against Crusades.' You should see the site, but pull over or sit down before you do. The site made me furious. It opens up with a video featuring a silhouetted airplane heading towards the Twin Towers and then asks several questions:

1.       Were they innocent?

2.       Who's guilty?

3.       Justifiable?

4.       Were the 19… Martyrs? Suicide or Martyrdom

5.       Could there be another 911?

And in a little over six days, they claim there will be a protest in front of the US Embassy in London declaring that the US was defeated on that day. They will stand with those from Shariah4America spouting hate-filled rhetoric, claiming that Islam brought the world's sole super power to her knees. And guess who is to blame for 9-11 according to these cowards? Why the US is of course. And it would appear that these violent Islamofascists have quite a following on Facebook and Twitter. They want Islam to rule the world and for all to serve under Shariah law.

Bloomberg, along with The New York Times and many others, seems to be supporting their cause. Just a reminder for all of you what is defined as Shariah law:

Under Sharia law, the clothes you wear, music you listen to, and television you watch would all be censored. Behavior in public is legally restricted and controlled. And Sharia is the ideal social system for those that preach Radical Islam. Sharia is an Arabic term referring to a legal framework to regulate public and private aspects of life based upon specific Islamic teachings. Sharia is an intolerant system that threatens the western ideals of "liberty and justice for all". Sharia views non-Muslims as second class citizens, sanctions inequality between men and women, prescribes cruel and unusual punishments for crimes, and promotes a restrictive business environment that strangles the freedoms of capitalism.

If you are a Jew, they kill you. If you are a Christian, you convert, pay the Jizya tax or they execute you. If you are gay, you will be put to death. Women are property and slaves. Sexual abuse is legal and rampant. Beheading is the preferred method of execution. And the list goes on and on… Imagine a worldwide Caliphate where this is the norm, where a fascist theocracy rules the day and freedom no longer exists. This is what these people bring. They bring evil, slavery, darkness and death.

We are at war with millions of Islamic radicals who believe thisThese are the radical Islamists and their hate never ended after 9-11. It has been going on since Islam began and we are fighting for our lives and our way of life. We better start acting like it if we don't want something much worse than 9-11 to play out on the lawn of the White House or in some mall in middle America.

The Jihadists need to understand this… We will never submit. We will never forget. We will fight you and the other enemies America faces within and without and we will win. That's what good does – it wins, it overcomes. We will put an end to your hatred that never ended one way or the other. Evil is stupid and cowardly and in the end – it always loses.

In the end, the hate will be extinguished. The only question is, will the haters themselves be ended.
